A LITTLE GUIDANCE. LESS GUESSWORK.

UK Bra Size Chart

Read UK band and cup sizes, then find a size to try.

A UK size combines a band number and a cup letter, such as 32E. Use the measurement tables below for our quick estimate. Already know your size in another system? Go to the size converter.

1. Find your starting UK band

For this quick method, wear a non-padded bra and stand naturally. Measure snugly below your breasts without digging in, keeping the tape level and breathing normally. Our method rounds to the nearest even inch, with odd-inch midpoints rounding up. It does not add four inches.

These are our calculator’s measurement ranges, not a universal UK brand chart. The upper end marked “<” is excluded: exactly 33 inches belongs to band 34, not 32. Centimeter ranges are the same boundaries in another unit.

2. Match the difference to a UK cup

Measure around the fullest part of your bust without compressing it. Keep the tape level. If you measured in centimeters, divide by 2.54 first. Round the bust to a whole inch (half an inch rounds up), then subtract the starting band from step 1. Match that difference below.

After D comes DD, then E, F and FF. Double letters are separate cup steps in this sequence, not half sizes. The UK labels follow our documented references, including Freya’s UK size guide. The measurement differences belong to our quick method, not Freya’s fitting algorithm.

Our chart covers AA–HH; UK sizing does not stop at HH. The zero-difference AA entry is a choice in our method. A cup letter alone is not a fixed volume: always keep the band number with it.

Example: 32-inch underbust and 38-inch bust

  1. 32 inches underbust gives a starting band of 32.
  2. 38 inches bust is already a whole inch: 38 − 32 = 6.
  3. A 6-inch difference gives E in this chart: UK 32E.

The same example is 81.28 cm underbust and 96.52 cm bust. Convert both readings to inches before rounding; do not subtract a UK band number from a bust measurement in centimeters.

Open the bra size calculator and select UK under “Sizing system” to use your own readings. Choose inches or centimeters independently. For tape placement, follow the illustrated measuring guide.

Are UK and US bra sizes the same?

They share band numbers in our reference, but cup letters diverge after DD. These examples follow the Freya conversion table; US brand labels can differ.

UK E is not another name for UK DD. Check the sizing system used by the retailer, even when shopping in your own country. For EU, French or Australian labels, use our full converter. Matching labels do not guarantee the same fit.

Why can another UK guide give a different size?

A UK label does not specify how it was estimated. Our quick method uses two measurements; other fitting approaches consider your current bra and how it sits. For example, Bravissimo’s fitting guide describes fitting without a tape measure. Follow one complete method instead of combining a band rule from one chart with a cup rule from another.

Treat the result as a starting point. Check that the band sits level and comfortably firm, the cups contain your breasts without spilling or gaping, and the wires do not press on breast tissue. Use our fit checklist when trying the bra.

This quick chart supports underbust 26–50 inches, bust up to 64 inches and differences of 0–12 inches; bust must not be smaller than underbust. Outside those limits, seek another fitting reference. For our optional six-measurement approach, follow its separate measurement instructions.
